changing the dates on sigma x3f

The clock on my sigma dp1 camera was wrongly set to January 2012. I tried to change the dates with

exiftool.exe "-AllDates+=0:0:0 0:0:230367786" my_target_filename


The number 230367786 is the number of seconds that is equal to the timeshift I want to achieve (7years 3months 19days etc...). While this works with my sigma jpgs that sit alongside the x3f raw files, it doesnt change the dates for the x3f.

Any knows if I am doing anything wrong please?

I found a sample raw X3F file and ran your command.  Exiftool was able to change the EXIF time stamps, but not the SigmaRaw:DateTimeOriginal.  Checking the SigmaRaw tag page, none of the SigmaRaw tags are writable.

Yes, attached is what the exif looks like from my Faststone Image Viewer. The date has been shifted to the correct value, Apr 2019. My Sigma Photo Pro, the official software from Sigma to manipulate x3f still shows the date as unchanged, see second attachment. And if do a tif and import it to lightroom, the capture date still is Jan 2012

It appears that Sigma Photo Pro only reads the SigmaRaw data and ignores the EXIF data.

After you export to tiff, you should be able to run your previous exiftool command on the tiff to correct the date.

Thanks. This is what I ended up doing. To be fair, I initially thought I wasnt using the exiftool properly (or exiftool itself was a bit temperamental with x3f files) but as you point out it seems that this is another annoyance to be added to the long list of annoyances of Sigma Pro Photo. It would be nice however if I could change the date on the x3f whatsoever...
