Hi ... I've just started to use exiftool and would like to ask a newbie question.

For my CR2 files, I see some tags under the title of "Composite" ... and I've learnt that these tags are derived tags from other tags.
My question is ... Are these derived tags really included in the CR2 file? ... or they are added by exiftool?

Phil Harvey

They are derived from tags that exist.  See the Composite tags documentation for a complete list.

Thank you ...

Are these composite tags in the ifd3 in Canon CR2 files?

Phil Harvey

You mean the "Derived From" tags?  Possibly.

Ok ...
Thanks,
I've just started to study the general structure of tags in a CR2 file ))
