Can't find my ExifTool_config file

And I don't want to go with the sample config file. as I can't tell whether or not ExifTool defaults are in it. I've searched in ~$HOME and /usr/bin (the latter being where ExifTool was installed), and the original .ExifTool_config is in neither place.

If this is explained in the FAQ, then please ignore the above.

There is no config file unless you create one.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).
