Where's the GPS Hiding?

I have come across something that has me stumped when I tried to extract GPS info from jpg files.

Photo taken on an HTC 10, drop it into Exiftool, comes up with GPS info as I would expect. Photo taken with a Moto E6+, drop it in, no GPS info. Check settings, location enabled. Swipe the photo on the phone for more info, there it is with a map pointer. So, phone knows where the pic was taken, but the file doesn't.

I feeely admit to being a newbie. Latest Exiftool.exe installed on a Windows dinosaur.

Any thoughts on why the tool isn't picking up a location?

Can you share a sample file?

But odds are if exiftool isn't finding the data, it isn't there.  The Moto might be saving the data in a database the app uses.

It also might depend upon how you are getting the image off the phone. If you're not accessing the original file directly as you would through USB, then whatever you are using to transfer it off might be altering the file in transit.
* Did you read FAQ #3 and use the command listed there?
* Please use the Code button for exiftool code/output.

* Please include your OS, Exiftool version, and type of file you're processing (MP4, JPG, etc).
