Hi, and sorry for any faults on my side.
This is my first appearance here and my English is far from perfect.

But I would appeciate your help very much.
I am using a program to enhance JPG pictures.
These are saved to new JPG files, but all metadata are lost in the process.

So I tried to use ExitToolGUI v5.16.0.0 to copy these into the new files.
While I did succed in one case, I am lo longer able to reproduce this result.

I have a JPG File which was edited with ACDSEE to implement peoples names.
I could embed these information into the JPG file. They can be seen with ExitToolGUI.

The I did process the picture and ended up with a modified copy which does not contain the metadata of the original picture.

So I tried to use ExitToolGUI to copy them.

I selected the new file, then tried:

Export/Import -> Copy metadata from single file -> OK
-> [Selection of file with the requried metadata] -> Open ->
checked "All >metadata" -> execute

ExitToolGUI seem to process somehow and the new file which was selected
is now unselected in ExitToolGUI.

If I select this file again, no data (at least not all data) were transferred.

I am stuck here now.

The data I'd like to tranfer can be seen in the original file with ExifToolGUI under the headline
----XMP-acdsee-rs----

The are listed as well in an exported txt file under
---- XMP ----
XMP Toolkit                     : XMP Core 5.5.0

...

Regions Region List DLY Area H  : 0.053964

Regions Region List ALG Area X  : 0.763720

etc.

Any idea why ExilToolGUI might not be able to copy them?

Thanks for any suggestions.

No problem Wolfgang, I'm from Holland and I do my best, but I know I make mistakes.

I would advice you to use the latest version that you can download here: ExiftoolGui releases
The same for ExifTool.exe, take the latest.
That will probably not solve your problem, but I can not make changes to, nor debug, version V516. So it's hard for me to tell you anything about that version.

Since you dont seem to care about existing metadata in your file(s), what I would try in your situation is to first remove all metadata from the destination file.
- Select the destination file(s)
- Modify
- Remove Metadata.
- Select at least '-XMP:all', or if you dont mind 'remove All Metadata'

And then try again.

A general remark when troubleshooting:
In the new version (V629) you can use the button 'Show Log Window'. If you keep that window open, you will see all commands that are sent to Exiftool. And their output and errors. That info is useful for finding errors. If you add that info here, especially the commands, it's easier to understand what is going on.
