Does any one have a script to import good old 4DOS descript.ion files in to xmp or iptc meta data? The format of this files is quite simple: http://jpsoft.com/ascii/descfile.txt

If not, I'll probably write one myself and post here.

Thanx a million!

I don't know of anyone who has done this -- I've never seen the format.

...where DIR is the name of a directory/folder containing the images.  On Mac/Linux/PowerShell, use single quotes (') instead of double quotes (") around arguments containing a dollar sign ($).

Ha, that is a blast from the past 8) I still use 4OS2 whenever I work with OS/2 (I am the developer of the script bootAble, and it is still maintained by me). To be honest though, I have never really used those descript.ion files; never saw a real benefit to them.

Interesting to see others did/do though :)

There's still are users of good old ACDC 2 from the last century, that uses these files to store a file description, who now want to upgrade. Modern versions of ACDC still allow to read and write these files, but when importing the data goes into the wrong tag. Well, at least some users think so.

I used it myself with 4DOS and Frontdoor for FidoNet long time ago.
