Hello Phil,
In a thread about CR3 files ( e.g.: https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php/topic,9544.msg49405.html#msg49405 (https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php/topic,9544.msg49405.html#msg49405) you stated the following:
QuoteExifTool only has limited write capabilities for CR3 files. (Basically, you can only write XMP and some QuickTime tags.)
So am I right, that for these Quicktime tags -charset quicktime= is taken into account.
Also some FLIR tags are listed as Quicktime tags. So I guess also -charset quicktime= is to be used.
Thanks in advance
Best regards
Herb
Hi Herb,
You shouldn't use -charset quicktime=xxx when writing. This is only used when extracting information if it was written using a non-standard encoding.

Edit: Ah, but you are right. ExifTool isn't encoding special characters properly when writing some QuickTime UserData tags. Thanks for pointing this out. I'll fix this.
