Regarding prior discussions about Nikon Z6/Z7 lens focus distance, https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php/topic,9931.msg51662.html#msg51662 and Phil's reply https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php/topic,9931.msg51665.html#msg51665, some of us have found that Nikon FX lenses record focus distance and other data in the Nikon Lensdata0800 tag group https://exiftool.org/TagNames/Nikon.html#LensData0800.
However, lens focus distance isn't being reported by ExifTool for native Z lenses (e.g., 24-70 f4 S) although other lens tag group metadata for this lens are. Is it possible that this information could still be hidden somewhere in Nikon maker notes? If there a way that Nikon Z users could assist in discovery? (Even though I recognize that this data may not be very accurate.)
If you send me a series of about 7 pictures shot with manual exposure and a range of known focus distances, I'll take a look to see what I can find. Shoot the pictures at the lowest JPEG size/resolution to keep the size down. My email is philharvey66 at gmail.com

Thank you! I've sent a set of images from my Z6 and 24-70 f4 S to your email.
I got them, thanks. I'll analyze them tomorrow and let you know what I find.

Good news. The Exiftool 11.64 will decode FocusDistance for the Z6/Z7. Here are the results for the files you sent:
> exiftool tmp -focusdistance -filename -T
1.06 m Z6 1 meter.jpg
2.24 m Z6 2 meters.jpg
3.16 m Z6 3 meters.jpg
4.47 m Z6 4 meters.jpg
5.31 m Z6 5 meters.jpg
6.68 m Z6 6 meters.jpg
0.50 m Z6 half meter.jpg
