Hello Phil,

Exiftool supports an Extra-Tag in file-group: Comment.
My question now is, which encoding does Exiftool use for this tag.

I came to this question because XnViewMP has introduced a setting for the encoding of this tag.

According to FAQ #10 (https://exiftool.org/faq.html#Q10)
JPEG Comment: The encoding for the JPEG Comment (COM segment) is not specified, so ExifTool reads/writes this text without conversion.

That's all I can offer up at the moment. Phil is currently away and should be back later this week.
