Title: Wrong lens in LensID and LensType
Post by: Birdman on April 21, 2021, 08:06:28 AM
Hello,

I just took some pictures with my Canon M50 MkII and my new Tamron SP 90 mm F/2.8. The Exifs of those pictures now show two different lens types in the lens tags:
LensModel: TAMRON SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD Macro1:1 F017 (which is the correct lens)
LensID: CANON EF 100mm F/2.8L Macro IS USM (wrong lens)
LensType: CANON EF 100mm F/2.8L Macro IS USM (wrong lens)

Any idea why?

Hi Martin,

I got the sample, thanks.

I'll add support for this lens in the next release (ExifTool 12.25, available within a day or so).

Hi Phil,

just downloaded the 12.25-version. LensID is fixed now and shows the correct lens. But LensType now reads:
"Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM or Tamron Lens"

Exactly.  The LensType is ambiguous.
