Fujifilm have recently released a Camera Control Development Kit for selected X and GFX series cameras.
The accompanying manual documents Maker Notes tag 0x1439 (type 2) - which is used to store the file path on the SD card when images are written to SD card in addition to being transferred to a computer.
The tag is used for the same purpose by the Fujifilm supplied X Acquire software which "lets you connect to the camera via USB or Wi-Fi and automatically download photos to a specified folder as they are taken".
For example: A:\DCIM\110_FUJI\DSCF1089.RAF
The tag seems to exist in every file - space filled 48 bytes - when the camera is being used normally and not remote controlled or attached to a computer.
The manual states "If XSDK_SetMediaRecord is enabled (thus ensuring pictures uploaded in PC SHOOT mode are also saved to the camera memory card), X and GFX Series cameras will also record the file name to the memory card in the MakerNote information field".
The wording is ambiguous - its not clear if this tag is dedicated to storing the file path or is a more general purpose "information field" - although I've never seen it used for any other purpose.
Could you send me this documentation? It sounds useful. (philharvey66 at gmail.com)
