Title: help understanding different categories/warnings
Post by: redfox on November 05, 2021, 05:23:59 PM
Hi! New here so still learning and improving & had a few questions about certain warnings, etc.

1. Warning : [minor] Patched incorrect time zero for QuickTime date/time tag
It says "minor" warning but was looking to understand it still. What is timezero? And is this warning almost negligible or I don't really need to worry about fixing it or anything?

2. Handler Type : Metadata
Is there a way to expand this even more to look more into what kind of metadata this is?

I believe the problem is that whatever originally wrote the file wrote the date based upon 1970 as time zero, but the Quicktime standard sets time zero to be 1904.

Exiftool is showing you the data.  This is just the metadata section of the file.  You will also have HandlerType : Audio Track and HandlerType : Video Track, possibly others, if you are using the command in FAQ #3 (https://exiftool.org/faq.html#Q3) to see duplicate tags.  See the list under QuickTime Handler Tags (https://exiftool.org/TagNames/QuickTime.html#Handler).
