Title: Geotagging issue

Dear Phil/all
first of all, thank you for your exif tool, very helpful!
I have one issue. Windows 11. I have some pics w/ & some others w/o geotagging infos.
1- I divided pics in 2 separate folders (YES & MANCANTI);
2- I created out.gpx file from pics w/ info w/ this script (file gpx in attach):

exiftool -fileOrder gpsdatetime -p gpx.fmt /Users/Windows/Desktop/TEST_GEO/YES > out.gpx

3- I copied the file in missing info folder & tried to associate geotagging info to pics w/o info: it doesnt works, here below the error:

Are you sure the files contain GPSDateTime?

What is the output of exiftool "-gps*" FILE for one of the files?

I just checked my mail and I think I found the sample track log (passed on my Oliver Betz).  The problem with this file is that it is UTF16-encoded.  Change this to UTF8 and it should work.

If you use Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/), there's a menu to change the encoding

I also found this Superuser answer (https://superuser.com/a/1163765/314998) which uses PowerShell.

it almost works!
...almost because 30/40 pics didn't accepted gps information...how could I do? here the output:

Check the time stamps for these files.  Exiftool is telling you that the time stamps in the files are too far away from the time stamps in the GPX file.  This could be a time zone issue or it could be that the GPX file doesn't have data for that time.

See this troubleshooting tip (https://exiftool.org/geotag.html#TR3) on how to read the results when you add the -v2 (-verbose2) option (https://exiftool.org/exiftool_pod.html#v-NUM--verbose)  to your command.
