I had a look but could not determine when Latitude and Longitude metadata fields were added to the PITC-IIM/Core/Extension standard ?

They aren't part of the IPTC IIM (https://exiftool.org/TagNames/IPTC.html)

They were added to the IPTC Photo Metadata Standard (https://www.iptc.org/std/photometadata/specification/IPTC-PhotoMetadata#gps-latitude) in version 1.3 (2016) according to the IPTC website, but not as separate entries, only as part of the LocationCreated/LocationShown structured data.

I have a PDF copy of the 2014 ver 1.2 photo metadata standard that includes the LocationCreated/LocationShown structured data, but the GPS coordinates where not part of it.

Thank you very much.

That was a late entry.
