I downloaded and tried to install the .PKG but the following error came up and blocked installation '
Apple could not verify "ExifTool-13.13.pkg" is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy.'
I found this article (https://support.apple.com/en-ca/102445) on how to allow the installation to proceed. Note, it is multi step.
- With the error window open, go to Privacy & Security. The prompt Open Anyway is only presented while the error window is open
- You then need to close the error window and open the .PKG a second time. I believe this may present a second error or an additional choice to install anyway.
While I'm impressed with the MAC OS on my MAC MINI, it is definitely set up for users and not developers.
I believe this is covered under the Mac OS section of the Install Page (https://exiftool.org/install.html#OSX).
QuoteFor MacOS 15, open the "Privacy & Security" settings and find the "Open Anyway" button in the Security section
It does work, if you close the popup window which displays the warning. Then change the setting and a new warning window will pop up, this time with an additional button to proceed anyway.
I just get into the habit of aways running this command whenever I download a new version and before I run the install
(with the correct version number of course)
exiftool -XAttrQuarantine= ExifTool-13.25.pkg
