Title: Live access to Nikon accelerometer data?
Post by: grubin698 on April 01, 2025, 04:35:15 PM
Hi, I know this isn't exactly ExifTool-related, but this forum seems to be the home of the intersection between data geeks and camera geeks.

I am currently controlling a Nikon Z7ii via the Smartshooter5 API (https://smartshooter5.com/external_api.html), then using ExifTool to get the metadata of the resulting image.

I know from ExifTool that the image exif contains camera roll, pitch, and yaw data.
I also know from the Nikon NX Tether live-view GUI that NX Tether is able to get sufficient information over the USB tethering connection to put virtual levels on the screen in real-time.

I would love to be able to access the camera roll/pitch/yaw numerical data live via the USB connection.  Anyone done anything like this before?
