I am in the process of incorporating exiftool into my MS Access app to allow me to extract the informaton into my database automatically rather than having to enter it manually.
I have discovered some unexpected LensID values in the Exif data for two of my Nikon lenses:-
Nikon 105mm macro: "Sigma Macro 105mm F2.8 EX DG"
Nikon 12-24 DX Zoom: "Tokina AT-X 124 AF PRO DX II (AF 12-24mm f/4)"
Is this an error or is it because these Nikon branded lenses are really OEM.
If it is the latter, then why are we paying extra for the Nikon name?
Brian.

See:-

All Nikon lenses should be uniquely idenfied with the exception
of the AF Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8D which can not be distinguished
from the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO. For this lens, the LensID
should show "AF Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8D or Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO'.
If you don't see this, be sure you are using the most recent version of exiftool.
