Unlike previous versions of Exiftool, Norton Internet security doesn't seem to like version 8.50. It blocks installation because of something it notes as code/thread-injection Shield.
I use Exiftool with Geosetter. Haven't yet tested to see if this has affected Geosetter application.
Hi,
have got the same problem. Geotagging with Geosetter does obviously not work anymore. Have temporarily put exiftool into the exclusion list and re-installed. But the issue should be rectified - if possible.
Please report this problem to Norton. The threading of 8.50 should be identical to previous versions, so I have no idea why Norton would suddenly have this problem with ExifTool.

Edit: It may be informative to know exactly which versions of exiftool are affected by this problem. If 8.49 is OK, then it is likely this is an isolated incident and that 8.51 will be OK again. It would be helpful if someone could work backward through the versions until you find one that NAV likes. Thanks:

Update: Apparently 8.49 works fine! (see the other thread (https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php/topic,3160))
Hi
I've been using ExifTool with Geosetter for a few months.
On upgrading Norton 360 to v5.0, the ExifTool (8.52) no longer updates. Geosetter updates process OK.
My last successful version is 8.47, although as an intermittent user, others may be OK.
I've tried downloading and installing the Win Executable, but the same happens, even when I allow the program and relax the firewall. The Norton product "Sonar" zaps the operation and gives no options for allowing it.
regards
