I am setting the copyright using XMP-dc:Rights. Shall I then also set xmpRights:Marked to 'True' ?
Or is xmpRights:Marked a different story ?
An argument for not setting xmpRights:Marked is that I do not set any other property from the XMP Rights Management namespace.
The other properties are:
- xmpRights:Certificate
- xmpRights:Owner
- xmpRights:UsageTerms
- xmpRights:WebStatement
Adobe's definition of the XMP Rights Management namespace:
QuoteThe XMP Rights Management namespace contains properties that provide information regarding the legal restrictions associated with a resource.
Adobe's definition of xmpRights:Marked:
QuoteWhen true, indicates that this is a rights-managed resource. When false, indicates that this is a public-domain resource. Omit if the state is unknown.
Does
rights-managed refer only to the XMP Rights Management namespace, or does
rights-managed also refer to XMP-dc:Rights in the Dublin Core namespace ?
The best way to answer this is to see what Photoshop does. Photoshop CS4 sets XMP-xmpRights:Marked only if the "Copyright Status" is set:
Copyright Status | xmpRights:Marked |
Unknown | - |
Copyrighted | true |
Public Domain | false |
