It would be helpful if the file list indicated how many files are currently selected. I am currently feeling the need for this because failure seems to occur if I try to operate on too many files at once.
Number of selected files in latest GUI version, is not relevant (I hope). If there's an error because of large amount on files, I'll be thankfull if you would post more details about.

I think this feature would be useful even if not trying to debug or deal with the particular problem I'm having with hangs when trying to modify too many files at once. That is why, e.g., it is there in explorer and other file listing programs. Basically, when one sees an explorer-type file listing, one expects the basic functionality of explorer to be present. As always, though, cost has to justify the benefit.
It would also be useful to have a refresh feature for the file list, to verify what might have changed.
