Title: Potential problem extracting SerialNumber from Kodak Easyshare C1013
Post by: mattburns on August 21, 2011, 05:55:19 AM
Hi Phil,

This is just a friendly note about a potential bug.

I've noticed an abundance of photos (http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/search?searchType=MANUAL&serial=ZD644156442) on flickr (I assume they use exiftool?) with the same serial number (ZD644156442) but from different users. I have one sample image that also returns this serial number when passed through exiftool. (exiftool 8.46 on windows xp). There are examples of other serial numbers for this same model however.

I assume one of the following is true:

Anyway, I just thought I'd share this with you in case you find it useful.

Thanks again for such a useful tool (I may have to set that as my signature!)

Hi Matt,

Thanks.  This serial number tag hadn't been confirmed, and from your observations even if it is a serial number it is unreliable, so I will change the name of this tag from "SerialNumber" to "UnknownNumber".
