Hi,
the page
https://exiftool.org/TagNames/Sony.html#LensType
does not list the lens ID of the new Sony 500mm F4.0 G SSM (SAL-500F40G): It is 64.
Three more lenses to specifically look for, however, no lens IDs known for them at this time, so there's nothing to add to the list at present:
- Still unreleased:
Sony DT 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 SAM (SAL-18135)
- Michael Hohner lists one more original lens variant not yet in your list:
Minolta AF Zoom 28-80mm F3.5-5.6 (2659-???)
http://www.mhohner.de/sony-minolta/onelens/af28-80f35
- Only a prototype, announced on 2002-03-19 and shown at various shows between 2002 and 2004, but never officially released:
Minolta AF Zoom 28-70mm F2.8 G SSM
If any, very few samples of this lens have made it into the wild.
Greetings,
Matthias
BTW. SAL and SEL codes should be written with a hyphen between the name prefix and the code. However, even Sony itself writes it without hyphen in alot of cases.
Hi Matthias,
Thanks! I'll add this. About the hyphen: Yes, I've noticed this inconsistency, but will go without they hyphen for consistency with the current ExifTool naming convention.

Hi Phil,
I see that the SAL-500F40G and SAL-18135 have been added to the list meanwhile.
Here are two more IDs read out/collected over the past couple of months:
- Sony Alpha 300mm F2.8 G SSM II (SAL-300F28G2): Lens ID 66
- Sony Alpha DT 55-300mm F4.5-5.6 SAM (SAL-55300): Lens ID 68
Open:
- Sony Alpha Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm F1.4 ZA SSM (SAL-50F14Z): (announced for spring 2013, not yet released)
- Minolta AF Zoom 28-80mm F3.5-5.6 (2659-???): (existance determined by part number, no sample found so far)
- Minolta AF Zoom 28-70mm F2.8 G SSM (announced on 2002-03-19 and shown at various shows between 2002 and 2004, prototypes only)
Greetings,
Matthias Paul
Hi Paul,
Thanks! I've added these (without the "Alpha" in the name to be consistent with other Sony lenses). They will appear in ExifTool 9.04
