Title: Which exif tag should I use for image content description?
Post by: matze2ooo on September 04, 2012, 07:54:36 AM
Hello exiftool users

What is the best exif tag to use for describing the content of an image? I would like to give every series of images I have shot an exif-tag, e.g. like "Hiking with family in canada on July 2012" What about defining keywords?

Should I use 0x010e ImageDescription ? Anything more preferable? (thinking of several image management software solutions which may could have a problem reading...)

Thanks in advance
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

EXIF:ImageDescription is the one I would have suggested, and is the EXIF tag recommended for this purpose by the MWG (http://www.metadataworkinggroup.org/).
