Dear Phil,
I was thrilled to find this utility to fix the NEF files corrupted by NX and Previous Nikon View versions, etc. However, since they were mostly shot on Nikon D1x (yes, the legend) and few on Nikon D2x .. the software doesn't run as it doesn't fit into the "parameters".
Is it possible to do a "quick fix" to add those two cameras in so I can try to run it on my damaged files ?
Much appreciated.
Gene.
Hi Gene,
The D1x and D2x images shouldn't be affected by this bug. It is only when writing NEF images from newer cameras with older Nikon software that things get corrupted.

Well, unfortunately, it did.. Originally, when switching between Nikon View versions.. the thumbnail orientation preview did not get transferred.. and now some of my files that I opened recently in Nikon View NX2 version now have End Of File error when try to open in Photoshop and when looking at preview in Nikon View itself - it usually has some of the image garbled.. Is there a workaround I can use to try to run this file and see if it helps ? Much appreciated..
This Nikon software is a terrible nightmare that just keeps getting worse. :(
To start, if you send me a corrupted image from each camera (philharvey66 at gmail.com), I'll see what I can do.

Edit: I just checked my messages and see you already sent a D1X NEF. I'll take a look at this tomorrow. Go ahead and send a D2X NEF as well if you want.
Hi Gene,
I've taken a look at these images, and they are not characteristic of the type of problem that is fixed by the fix_corrupted_nef utility. In these images it looks like the raw data itself has been damaged. (well, 2 of them anyway... one of the images looks perfectly fine to me, aside from being washed out by the backlighting.)
I'm just guessing here, but I would think that your problem may have been caused by a faulty hard disk, and not by faulty software.
There isn't anything I can do to help here since the raw data itself has been damaged.

that's too bad. Well thank you for trying :)
