Title: Can IrfanView Print Custom Tags
Post by: kbellis on January 22, 2014, 09:37:55 PM

Has anybody that uses custom tags created by ExifTool found a way to add them through IrfanView's Add Overlay Text to an image? - mostly I'm interested in getting the custom tag LightValue printed alongside some other data -

Thank you very much.

I doubt it would be possible.  Irfanview seems to only understand the most common IPTC and EXIF tags, and doesn't even recognize XMP.

If you have any scripting talent, you might try extracting the data you want with ExifTool and then using something like ImageMagick (http://www.imagemagick.org) to add the text.

Edit:  Oh yeah, don't forget to check out the Irfanview forums (https://irfanview-forum.de/forum.php), they're more likely to know.

Thanks StarGeek for the reply and links.

I'll look at ImageMagick closer but I may try a Photoshop scripting route first.

BTW, the forums aren't allowing new registrations due to spam abuse - a pitty.
