Title: Need Help Fast! Regarding File Create, Modify Dates and Times!
Post by: MRAGGI on April 26, 2015, 04:46:07 PM
I used ExifTool  to look at the metadata from an MP4 audio file.  It lists the date and times as follows:

File Mod Date/Time  2015:01:08 10:06:04 -05:00
Create "                         "          14:06:04
Modify                            "         14:06:04
The Track Create and Media Create dates and times are the same as above

I need to know which is the most accurate metadata info, and what does the -05:00  or - :-\04:00 (which is shown in the Windows data when I copied the file as 2015:04:23 13:17:17 -04:00) mean?

Thank you I am under a time crunch.  My e-mail is mraggi@aol.com.  Thank you.

Sorry for not being so fast.

It is hard to tell exactly what tags I am looking at because the output doesn't match any ExifTool tags that I know.  But I'll guess that the first one is the "File Modification Date/Time", which is stored in the file system, and not in the file metadata.  However, it seems to agree with the times in the file, and since the system timezone is probably the best understood, in this case it is the one that I would use.  The -05:00 is the time zone offset of your system (eastern).
