Canon has updated their raw developer program from version 3 to version 4. It looks like along the way they've also changed how they are storing the recipe data for developing the raw file.
In version 3 it was stored in a section labeled VRD which would also be saved as a separate recipe file (extension .vrd). This section and file exiftool is able to read and edit.
In version 4 it looks like they've changed to a new format, the recipe file is now extension .dr4 and stored in a different section or format.
Is there anyway to display/edit the data stored in the new format?
Darn. Looks like more work for me.
Thanks for this report.
I'll see if I can download the new DPP and figure out this format.

When you download the newer version of the software the website asks for your camera's serial number. Someone on the web found out that 123412341234 works just fine for letting you download the software if you don't have your camera's serial number handy!
Thanks Phil
I've spent much more time than I should have working on this (ie. most of the long weekend), and the next release will have read/write support for DR4 information. I had been planning on releasing 9.96 on the weekend, but this got delayed due to work in the DR4 support. However, I should be able to release it within a few days.

The new version has been out for a while now. I would be interested to hear how it works for you, and whether I missed decoding anything you wanted.

Hi Phil,
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, family issues going on. But yes so far it's working good, I use it to batch change settings in raw files in a script I wrote.
Thanks again,
Kevin
