Title: extract preview image from CR2
Post by: jimmyiiiphoto on August 23, 2015, 12:36:58 PM
My CR2 image is not showing a preview in the finder window and when I ran this script I get an error.

First I ran this in Terminal on mac:
Image-ExifTool-10.00/exiftool -PreviewImage -b jimmy2.CR2 > Canon_JFR.JPG

Then this pops up:
Error: File format error - jimmy2.CR2

I really need these images from a wedding I just shot and hope there's a way to at least get a jpeg from the CR2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I attached the zipped up CR2 image.

This file is only 26 kB.  There is not enough data for a raw image here.

I have the image compressed as a zip file.

After I extract the image, my computer is showing the file as 27.5 MB.

Is this correct?

Thanks

The raw data shouldn't compress well.  The compressed file should also be around 25 MB.  Is it?
