Title: CurrentIPTCDigest
Post by: justmike on October 16, 2015, 05:16:01 PM
When searching for information about the CurrentIPTCDigest, I saw a thread from 2011 https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php?topic=3044.0 (https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php?topic=3044.0).

If the iptc metadata is never changed, will this ID remain unchanged? Could it be used as a flag to indicate whether or not to import data in a database? For example, if equal, do nothing. If not =, import newer information.

If you are talking about IPTC information only, then this may be used to indicate that it has changed.  Unfortunately though, IPTC (IIM) is being phased out in favour of XMP.

Is there a method or field better suited than MetadataDate for tracking the changes made to a file?
