Title: Pay to fix Corrupted CR2
Post by: rmajoran on January 20, 2016, 10:56:31 PM
Hello,

Just wondering if someone has the time to repair a corrupted CR2 file for me. I am happy to pay for it.

Just let me know what you need (i.e. corrupted CR2 and a couple of intact CR2s), and I can send you a Dropbox link.

(If you can get the first file working, I will likely have some more as well.)

Sincerely,
Ray

Seeing that I won't be checking this thread for the next 10 hours, if anyone gets ambitious and wants to take a crack at it...

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4hrqy1z1kmjqq1c/AACkbZ0mKAOC_btDuGjjks35a?dl=0

There are 2 folders: Corrupted Files and Good Files. In Corrupted Files, 2719.CR2 is the one I want to start with.

Both folders contain files from the same morning.

Sincerely,
Ray

I used my extract_preview script (search the forum to find it plus instructions) on your first image, and retrieved this embedded JPEG image (http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/tmp/2M6C2719_5760x3840_preview.jpg).

Phil,

That is extremely helpful (and extremely sad for me).

I recovered about 50 deleted images off a card, and the file you extracted is actually a file I already had. So it looks like although I recovered the files, they were actually overwritten. :(

I will search for the extract_preview script just to verify.

Thank you so much for your help. Do I owe you anything?

Phil,

I ran the script (see below) on one of my images and it just gave me an error. Did I run it properly?

(Note: When I tried to run extract_preview without exiftool in front of it, it kept saying: "This scripts requires Image::ExifTool -- please install it.". Even though it is "installed", it kept giving me that.)
