Title: Changing orientation of .mov files with ExifTool?
Post by: jmccabe on August 30, 2016, 11:17:22 PM
Hi, just found this tool and forum.

I just bought a media player (WD My Cloud) and when I stream to the TV via WD TV Live, most of the old videos captured with my iPhone are rotated 90 degrees.  WD Support has heard this before and lists ExifTool as a potential tool to change the rotation (http://support.wdc.com/KnowledgeBase/answer.aspx?ID=11361) but I saw an earlier post from Phil that said that ExifTool doesn't write video files.

Is this possible with ExifTool, and if so, any suggestions on how to do it?

Thanks in advance, James (Queen's '93, Cognitive Science)

ExifTool does have limited write abilities for MP4 and MOV video read here (https://exiftool.org/TagNames/QuickTime.html), but can't currently change the rotation.  This isn't a feature that I anticipate adding in the near future.
