Hi all,
are there any "standards" or best practices for multilingual text e.g. in the Description for sending it to news agencies?
I know two (special) stock photo agencies with different requirements:
One uses a double slash to separate the local description from the English description, e.g. "Ein schönes Foto // A nice picture". They claim it is the format required by press photo agencies.
Another uses language tags in squared brackets, e.g. "[de]Ein schönes Foto [en] A nice picture". This seems to be more useful from a technical perspective.

Hi Oliver,
The technically correct way to do this using XMP is:
exiftool -xmp:description="I'm sick" -xmp:description-fr="Je suis malade" ... FILE

Hi Phil,
the technical correct way is not always the way required by picture agencies. Some of them have less technical understanding than I would like...
Besides, there seems to be no IPTC equivalent, and the support in GUI applications is weak.

P.S.: Thanks for your effort maintaining this great tool!
