Hi, i shoot a wedding recently and downloaded all the photos (Canon raw- CR2 files) from the CF card to hard drive, all the photos have the correct file sizes and If i'm scrolling down i can see the small previews perfectly but the problem start when i open the files.
few days after i opened the files on lightroom and all the photos from the card are corrupted! I tried open the files in alot of programs but in every program it was damaged photos.
Since this wedding i shoot 2 other weddings so i over wrote the memory card so can't recover from the card.
I've tried every program that was recommended on the web include ExiftTool, cr2 repair and Hex editor but i can't really understand how to handle file metadata.
I read in another topic that there is a chance that the header of the file is unreadable but there is a possibility that changing the data of the file can fix the problem. !?
I'm in desperate need for help because I'm out of options and don't want to have to tell this couple I have lost their photos. anyone knows how to handle file metadata on CR2, repair CR2, have any recommendation on what to do or can do the work?
every success even b&w/ small jpeg or every thing that can be rescued will be helpful.
Can you upload an image to someplace like dropbox and link it here? That way someone can take a look at the file. There are a few people here who know how to check to see how corrupt the image is (not me, unfortunately).
But in most of these cases, the CR2 files are not recoverable. Sometimes, though, you can extract the jpg previews, which may be enough. See this post (https://exiftool.org/forum/index.php/topic,4172.msg19805.html#msg19805) for Phil's extract preview script.
Thank you for your reply!
I upload 4 photos here:

Any help will be so appreciated !!
Need you get away with this issue... I have the same...

Lee, I just checked one of your images and it seems as if both the RAW data as well as the embedded JPG preview are corrupted. Most likely a hardware defect while transferring the photos from memory card to hard drive. Check your cables and card reader. There have also been rumors in the past that Lightroom might be the culprit.
Do you still have the original memory card with the photos on it? Try a different card reader or computer.

Hi Paul,
The files are largely intact, but it could take a lot of work to recover the individual images if possible at all. The metadata seems OK, but and it looks like the image data itself has been corrupted. It is possible that some intact 5760x3840 JPEG's may be recovered, but for the CR2's you posted only the 160x120 thumbnails were intact.
