Title: Splitting MP4 metadata to individual frames
Post by: CDubs138 on January 06, 2023, 12:12:51 AM
Hi all,

Apologies if this is a dumb question - I'm in the middle of a a research project and I am getting very lost.

I am using a DJI thermal drone to collect animal temperatures. Naively, I thought the drone would be able to output thermal video files that I could split into individual frames and analyse each of those. That is very much not the case!

I can use FFMPEG to split the MP4s into 30fps JPGs, no worries. Is there anyway I can use exiftool to take the metadata of each video frame (MP4), store it and then effectively reassemble it it with each of the individual JPEGs to get the temperature data?

I've spent a while trying to figure out how to get this temperature data and I'm drawing blank after blank. Any help you could give would be massively appreciated.

Thanks!  :)

Nevermind. It appears that the MP4 doesn't actually contain any thermal data. Damn!
