Title: metadata from mp4 copy
Post by: rodanny on August 02, 2023, 07:57:49 AM
I have the following problem.
I filmed with Sony RX100VII and in the mp4 files there is more data than can be copied with the commands "-tagsFromFile"
with the -ee parameter I get a very large file in which a lot of information is saved.
but I can't load them in the newly recoded file.
what solutions do i have?
I have attached an example file with this information.

Also, when a txt file is generated with the -ee command if I want to create a json to keep the information centralized, all this information does not appear again, except as if the "--a" parameter had also been set

Thank you. I used Google Translate. Sorry for the correctness of the text

Exiftool can only write header data in video files.

Data extracted with the -ee (-extractEmbedded) option (https://exiftool.org/exiftool_pod.html#ee--extractEmbedded) is part of the video stream.  Such data is almost always non-standard in the streams, though that doesn't stop camera companies from forcing it in.  With each company doing so in different ways, sometimes changing between different models from the same company.  As an example, exiftool currently knows 66 different ways a GPS track can be embedded in a video file, with a half dozen or so more formats which have yet to be decoded.

In effect, such data as the accelerometer and similar data in your file cannot be copied.  There is no standard for re-writing such data.

hello,
Thank you for response.
But if exiftool find this data why cannot put in a new file similar with source file ?

To repeat, there is not a standard for writing the information.  Exiftool has to be able to write data without affecting the video.
