Title: Writing PreservedFileName

I'm having trouble writing to a XMP tag named PreservedFileName.  I think the exact namespace is XMP-xmpMM:PreservedFileName (or xapMM?).  It is present in some files processed by Photoshop CS2.  (Sample file can be provided if needed.)

I can read it from the commandline app and in script, but when I try to write a new value it gives me an error -- Tag 'PreservedFileName' does not exist.  Apparently, this is the error you get when your tag isn't on the supported tag list in the documentation.  Wink

Question:  Is this tag on the ExifTool ToDo list, or is there something about it that makes it difficult to support?

Any help/information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You are correct, ExifTool will not write unknown tags like this.  This tag is new to me, and isn't part of the XMP specification released earlier this year by Adobe, but their documentation lags somewhat behind their implementation of new tags.

I will add support for this tag.  A sample image would be useful to be sure I get it right.  Thanks.

Thanks for the sample.  This update will appear in ExifTool 6.29, which should be released within a day or two.
