Hello,

I'm new to this tool which is the one I was searching for many months, thanks for your work!

When i want to change the filemodifydate tag to the createdate tag, I use the command:

Code:
exiftool "-filemodifydate<createdate" mypicture.jpg
The result seems good but there is a warning message:

Code:
Warning: minor Adjusted MakerNotes base by -250 - mypicture.jpg
The camera is Canon Powershot A520

The question is: is the message normal or do I have to do something to make the file date change without the warning?

Thanks for your answer and sorry for my french accent

Cyril

Hi Cryil,

That warning is informative only, and it indicates that the makernotes were
damaged when you edited the image with another utility.  However, ExifTool
is able to repair the damage and read the correct information from the file.

You can use the -m option to ignore minor warnings if you want.

If the image is rewritten using exiftool, then the damage will be fixed
permanently.  (But the image isn't rewritten if you are just setting the
FileModifyDate.)
