I'm using Windows XP SP2. The information was written to the file using exiftool, first to IPTC fields then using iptc2xmp transfered to XMP. I only used the "keywords" and "headline" fields.

You should be able to find various tools to read the XMP since it is written
using the published standard, but the IPTC is likely only readable by
ImageMagick and exiftool. However, offhand I don't know of any Windows
tools to do this.
