Hi there,
I have a jpg file with an IPTC Keyword that I can see when issuing
exiftool -IPTC:Keywords filename
Now I want to remove this tag. So I type
exiftool -IPTC:Keywords-=tag filename
upon which I get the response
1 image files updated
So far, so good. When I check again, however, the tag is still there!
When I try to remove it again, I get:
0 image files updated
1 image files unchanged
When I add the same tag, it is shown twice in the list and one of them I can remove, but the other one always stays!
What's going on?
thanks for any help.

using exiftool 6.90-1

There are actually a few different ways this could happen,
and without the source file or more details I would just
be guessing. One way is that there is a keyword with a
comma that looks like two. ie) exiftool -keyword="one, two".
Also, there may be hidden characters that you aren't
seeing, or the IPTC may be duplicated in another location
that exiftool is not writing. Try using "exiftool -v3" on the
original file to see exactly what is there, then use the -v3
option when writing to see what is changed. If you can't
figure out what is going on, send me the file and the
exact commands you are using and I will sort things you
for you. My mail is philharvey66 at gmail.com.
