Hi there:

I am running the following command to get the frame rate (fps)

exiftool AUD_010_020.mov -timescale

and I get 600 ..? it should be 24fps ..?

Is there any other tag that I can use to get the exact fps ..?

Thanks and much appreciated.

Obtaining the video frame rate from a quicktime movie is difficult.
(Possibly this is because the format supports variable frame rates,
but this is just a guess.) The average frame rate must be calculated (see
this
page
for details), but unfortunately, exiftool does not provide
the "media sample count" which is needed in this calculation.  ExifTool
only reports the information it finds in the headers, and will not scan
through all of the media chunks to determine the total number of
samples (see
this
page
for a description of the sample layout).

So unless someone can help here by pointing out something I have
missed, it looks like you can't use exiftool to do what you want.

I have been doing some more reading, and I may be able to determine
the number of samples by analyzing the time-to-sample table, which
would allow the frame rate to be calculated.  I'll look into this and
post again here if I figure this out.

Cool.  That worked.  I have added a VideoFrameRate tag which
is calculated from the time-to-sample table information.  This
feature will appear in exiftool 7.21, and I have uploaded a
7.21
pre-release here
if you want to try it before the official release.

OK.  The official release will be likely today or tomorrow,
so you don't have too long to wait for the .exe version.
