I'm using

exiftool -'XMP:DateTimeOriginal &lt createDate' name.jpg

to update a missing date before uploading to PhotoShelter data base.

But I get a warning from time to time:

Warning: Invalid date/time (use YYYY:MM:DD HH:MM:SS[.SS][+/-HH:MM|Z]) in XMP-exif:DateTimeOriginal (PrintConvInv) - name.jpg

Is it still ok to use this command?

Thanks JO

Hi Jo,

The value isn't being set if you get a warning like this.  Run
"exiftool -createdate name.jpg" to see what the createDate
is.  If it isn't in the correct form, then exiftool will complain,
and won't write the value.
