Hello,

I want to use Lightroom for tagging all my photos (IPTC, categories and so on). The raw file is a Nikon NEF. After IPTC tagging I export the xmp sidcar from Lightroom into the same directory as the nef files. Because Capture NX is the better RAW converter I want to use it for the raw converter process. Capure NX ignors the completly the xmp sidcar files. The output of the raw converter process is a jpg file. Which I import also to Lightroom. These jpgs have than no tagging information. My idea is no to copy this information from the xmp files to the jpg files before importing them to Lightroom.

My operation system is Windows XP. I use the stand alon version of exiftool (renamed to exiftool) and I have set the path variabel for find the directory of exiftoll.
From my understanding

Code:
exiftool -TagsFromFile %d%f.xmp "-all>xmp:all" -overwrite_original %d%f.jpg

Should do this job. But it doesn't work.  But I only get an error Opening file %d%f.xmp.
For a single file

Code:
exiftool -TagsFromFile Picture1.xmp "-all>xmp:all" -overwrite_original Picture1.jpg

everithing is working.

What is my mistake? What have I do if the xmp files and the jpg files are not in the same directory.

Best regards

Christoph

Close, but you want "DIR/*.jpg" or maybe "DIR -ext jpg"
instead of "%d%f.jpg" for the files to process.  If they
are in different directories, use "DIR2/%f.xmp" in the
-tagsfromfile option. - Phil
