I'm really missing something I guess, cause I've tried for a couple of hours doing different syntaxes. I can do a simple rename to a totally new name, but cannot insert dates. The latest I tried is
exiftool "-FileName<DateTimeOriginal" -d "%%f_%Y %m %d_c.%%e" dscn0072.jpg
and the file gets renamed to [_m e]
Running on Win XP SP2
[Originally posted by exiftool on 2008-05-26 14:10:21-07]That's odd, this command should work. Here is what I get when
I run it on a test file here:
exiftool "-FileName<DateTimeOriginal" -d "%%f_%Y %m %d_c.%%e" -v a.jpg
======== a.jpg
Setting new values from a.jpg
'a.jpg' --> 'a_2007 01 02_c.jpg'
1 image files updated
And the file is renamed properly. Try using the -v option to see if this
sheds any light on the problem.

Oh. If you are doing this in a batch file you must replace all
"%" with "%%" on the command line.
