I'm using the Geosetter utility to add some geodata to some photos.  After processing about 12 pictures using GISTEQ Phototrackr these 12 pictures now have LAT/Long data.  After I try to geotag these pictures using Geosetter (to add more geodata such as Country, State and City data to the picture file) I get error messages that I can not resolve.  I have looked at the FAQ on the Geosetter website but can not resolve my problem.  They said becasue the files were handled by another program, the Exiftool may produce error messages.  They referred me to here.

Below are the error messages:

Exif Tool Execution Statement:

After I change the Setting in Geosetter to Ignore Minor Errors I still get the following message:

Errors/Warnings:
Warning: InteropIFD pointer references previous MakerNotes directory - C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Pictures\MTB Trip to Idyllwild, CA - Jul. 2008\JPEG\DSC03593.JPG

Error: Bad ExifIFD directory pointer for MakerNoteSony4

What am I doing wrong or what settings do I need to change?  Any ideas?

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2

Thanks

It sounds to me like Phototrackr corrupted the meta information
for these images.  If you could post a URL to a sample image
with this problem or email it to me at philharvey66 at gmail.com
I can analyze it in more detail and let you know if it is possible
to repair the damage.

Thanks for the sample.  You should submit a bug report to
Phototrackr.  It is simply dropping the Makernote information
but keeping the Makernote entry in the ExifIFD.  This is a
really serious bug from my point of view.
Click
here
to see the htmlDump output for this file.  The
red MakerNotes tag name indicates that the offset is invalid.
As you can see, the offset of 0x027c points to the start of the
GPS IFD, which is totally wrong.  Since the makernote information
is lost anyway, you can use exiftool to rebuild the EXIF using
the following command:

Code:
exiftool -exif:all= -tagsfromfile @ -exif:all FILE

This will get rid of the format problems left by Phototrackr, and
allow you to write the file again with exiftool.

I just realized that to be complete, you should also preserve a
couple of the protected tags in this image that exiftool doesn't
copy by default.  So this command line would be better:

Code:
exiftool -exif:all= -tagsfromfile @ -exif:all -compressedbitsperpixel -ycbcrpositioning FILE
