Dear all,
When using exiftool with the parameter -modifydate+=7, which should change the value by adding 7 hours, my files get the time of the actual change performed by exiftool, which is not the 7 hour adding that I want it to perform.
I have also tried to make it a full value with date 0:0:0 7:0:0, but that did not help either, it keeps on taking the time of actual chaning the file, not the modify date that I want it to take.
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks,
WM

By default, the modify date is updated to the date you wrote
the file. Use the -P option to preserve the original
(or edited) fileModifyDate.

I just tried using this option, but if I use it then my date remains the original one, and not the one of the time-shifted zone.
Basically, I forgot to amend my time zone on the camera, and want to change all times of the file, including the last modification. Now if I check the exif information, then all exif values seem to change, except for the last modification, which is now even before the creation time (as I need to add 7 hours time-shift)
Any help appreciated,

-Pto preserve the edited FileModifyDate. (Just to be sure
you understand: FileModifyDate isn't stored in the
file -- it is a pseudo tag generated from the filesystem
timestamp for the file.) Here is a terminal transcript
showing how to shift common date/time tags plus
FileModifyDate:
> exiftool a.jpg -alldates -filemodifydate -a
Date/Time Original : 2003:09:30 13:37:51
Create Date : 2003:09:30 13:37:51
Modify Date : 2003:09:30 13:37:51
File Modification Date/Time : 2003:09:30 13:37:51
> exiftool a.jpg -alldates+=7 -filemodifydate+=7
1 image files updated
> exiftool a.jpg -alldates -filemodifydate -a
Date/Time Original : 2003:09:30 20:37:51
Create Date : 2003:09:30 20:37:51
Modify Date : 2003:09:30 20:37:51

Thanks a lot, that worked perfectly, and sorry as I originally thought that the filemodify date would also be amended using the alldates-option, but that apparently only applies to the one stored in the exif format, not the parameter part of the file system.
