Code:
command line:
M:\photos\2001>exiftool -@ new.txt PC250019a.jpg -v

This file works, new.txt file:
-addTagsFromFile @
-keywords+<$CreateDate

This file does not, new.txt file:
-d
%Y
-addTagsFromFile @
-keywords+<$CreateDate

Gives me:
======== PC250019a.jpg
Setting new values from PC250019a.jpg
Warning: [minor] Tag 'CreateDate' not defined - PC250019a.jpg
Nothing changed in PC250019a.jpg

I could not get date formatting with the -d option to work after updating to version 7.39. I downgraded to version 7.38 and it is working again.

See my thread on the -d option being broken. The previous version 7.38 windows executable is available here http://www.exiftool.org/exiftool-7.38.zip
