Hello,

I'm trying to embed a raw image in a jpg or tiff but get a size limit error:

Code:
exiftool '-OriginalRawImage<=imagename.dng' imagename.tif
File exceeds size limit: imagename.dng
Nothing to do.

What is the size limit and can it be increased?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

Thanks for this suggestion.

I placed an abritrary size limit on files written as a tag value since
they are loaded into memory.  The current limit is 16 MB, but I will
bump that up to 100 MB in the next release (which will hopefully
be issued later today).

I made this change to version 7.58, but discovered that this caused
a problem on some Windows systems without much RAM (it appears
the 100MB is pre-allocated on the read request even if the file is
smaller than this -- this must be why I decided on 16MB originally).
So I have changed the way I read the file (I read it in sections instead
of all in one block), and removed the size limit completely in version
7.59.  Please let me know if you have any problems with this version.
