Title: Flickr now uses ExifTool

I just discovered today that Flickr is now using ExifTool to
extract meta information for its database.  Although they don't
acknowledge this, it is obvious from the ExifTool-specific
formatting of some values.  It looks like they made the change
around the end of December 2008 because images uploaded
after this all seem to use ExifTool.  Cool.

Below is the the text displayed by Flickr when you click on
"More properties" for a recently uploaded image from a
Canon PowerShot camera.  If you use ExifTool a lot, you should
recognize that the values correspond exactly to ExifTool's
(sometimes quirky) formatting:

I should have put a link to Flickr instead of cutting and pasting.

Here
is the Flickr page showing this meta information

And for those of you who don't know, imaging-resource.com also uses
ExifTool for their meta information extraction:

Here
is a sample Imaging-Resource Exif Report page

Hi Phil,

My opinion on this ("...they don't acknowledge this...")... I admit, I didn't read carefully about Exiftool (open source, freeware, whatever...) policy/disclaimer.

Still, even if Exiftool is *full* freeware, one who uses it, should make/write at least some credit to author. And as in this case (commercial, I believe), some donation wouldn't hurt, though.

Just my 2c -no need to comment :-)

Greetings,

Bogdan
