I would love to know the exact date&time when recording of each of my MPEG-1 videos started. I assume exiftool would report the date&time if it is available in the MPEG-1-file. Unfortunately, the MPEG-1s recorded with my consumer digital camera Sony DSC-W150 do not contain that information.

My question:  Is it the fault of this camera type, that the recording date&time is not stored in the MPEG-1-file?

Or is he recording date&time not part of the MPEG-1 specification, and therefore not any MPEG-1 will have the recording date&time stored?

It would be possible to insert a proprietary packet in an MPEG-1
stream which contains this information, however I can't see any
metadata like this when I look at a DSC-W150 MPG file.
