Is it possible to read the shutter count on the Canon 7D? I know different Canon models record this data differently.
Also, can this shutter count be "seen" with the GUI interface?
I believe the shutter count is different from the "Image Number," "File Name" or "File Index" in the Maker Notes. But I suspect it should be in the Maker Notes somewhere.
For example, on my Canon 40D the last image shot shows an Image Number of IMG_6847, a File Index of 6847 but by using EOSInfo my shutter count is 7670 (and I can see it increment with each shot using that utility.)
Unfortunately, EOSInfo can't read the Canon 7D.
Thanks
Unfortunately it seems as if the EOS 1D models are the only Canon EOS models that write the ShutterCount information to the images (or at least the information is well hidden with other models).

Phil,
Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of that. It appears that you can get the count but you have to use Linux OS with gphoto2 - what a pain.
Anyway, thanks for a really great image tool. And, the constant support!
Does that get the count from the camera directly? If there is any app that can extract this information from an image, please let me know because if the information exists I should be extracting it.

Phil,
Unfortunately, I don't have a Linux machine - but I suspect it gets it directly from the camera.
Too bad its not in some of the Maker Notes.
